Chef Melissa Smithers is a native to the Pacific Northwest. She graduated from Seattle University and has been working in the cooking industry for over ten years now. Starting with a line cook position at Essential Baking Company, Melissa quickly realized that her passion was cooking. She has since worked at restaurants such as The Hangar Cafe, Monsoon, and The Corson Building. She has been employed as a recipe developer, caterer, personal chef, and was the Executive Chef at Bastyr University.
She finds inspiration for her menus from travelling and world cuisines. Her desire to bring these flavors from around the world is coupled with passion for local, seasonal foods. She started her own business, A Local Palate, which specializes in bringing prepared farm fresh meals and produce to families and individuals in the Seattle area.
